Job Purpose:

  • To conduct various types of traffic-related information, audits and surveys according to directives and to document the relevant data in the required format

 

Primary Functions:

  • Conduct traffic surveys
  • Observe, count and capture transportation information in various formats
  • Report punctually at a predetermined assembly point, working for specific periods and times at predetermined positions
  • Document relevant information
  • Enter the traffic survey data on the survey forms carefully, regarding time, period, environmental effects and description of the intersection
  • Check calculations and totals, and verify observed traffic data
  • Record any abnormalities at the specific counting points
  • Provide inputs to management
  • Discuss new methods and ideas on traffic-surveying processes

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 10
  • Relevant experience in conducting manual traffic counts will be an added advantage
  • A valid Code B driving licence
  • Physical fitness and health, with the ability to do traffic counts on-site
  • Must undergo a criminal record check, and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at their own cost

 

Personal Attributes/ Competencies:

  • Ability to work with a team in good spirits;
  • Ability to work during peak traffic hours on a counting day;
  • Ability to work throughout the day on-site with no formal lunch time on a programme;
  • Ability to work with normal arithmetic calculations
